The context
Archie's is a hosting-led, social dining concept with a subtle French influence, built around warmth, generosity and the rhythms of the British social calendar, Henley Regatta, Ascot, the summer season. The brand had loyal regulars and a strong product. What it didn't have was a coherent identity, a defined position, or the infrastructure to grow.
The challenge
When Archie's merged into The Fendale Group, the rebrand needed to do two things simultaneously: retain the warmth and personality that made the original concept work, and build the commercial and structural foundations that a brand within a portfolio requires. The brief wasn't to make it look more premium. The brief was to make it actually work as a brand.
The insight
The problem wasn't the product, it was the absence of systems. There was no formal brand deck, no defined tone of voice, no structured social strategy, no clearly articulated USPs. Nothing held the brand together across channels. The rebrand needed to be a structural reset, not just an aesthetic one.
The strategy
I started by stripping the concept back to its core: what does Archie's actually do that nothing else does? The answer was hosting. The defining quality was the sense of occasion, the feeling that someone had genuinely thought about how to make the evening good. I built the repositioning around that instinct: elevated, hosting-led dining for people who know what a good table looks like.
What I built
- New brand positioning framework with defined pillars, audience and competitive differentiation
- Visual identity: updated logo, refined colour palette, typography system
- Tone of voice guidelines and messaging framework
- Full brand deck for internal alignment and external use
- Website redesign and rebuild
- Social media strategy and content calendar
- Asset library and usable template system
- Printed collateral and menu relaunch
- Physical touchpoints aligned across all brand environments
The outcome
Post-rebrand, Archie's saw a 368% increase in social-to-enquiry engagement, a result that reflects stronger brand clarity, more coherent messaging and a sharper commercial proposition. The repositioned brand has since supported the Fendale Group's commercial tender activity.
What this proves
This case study demonstrates the ability to diagnose a structural brand problem, not just an aesthetic one, build systems where none existed, and connect creative direction directly to commercial performance. It is the difference between redesign and repositioning.
